Why I’m writing here

I plan to use this space for two kinds of writing.

Working notes. Short pieces, half-formed, on problems I am thinking about right now — usually statistical mechanics, turbulence, or machine-learning theory. The goal is not polish; the goal is to think out loud and notice the holes in my own arguments by writing them down.

Plain-language explanations. Longer pieces, written for a smart non-specialist, on results from my published work or from papers I find beautiful. If the only way to explain my own research is to throw equations at people, I have not actually understood it yet.
